About Adaptive Challenge Engine (ACE)

ACE (Adaptive Challenge Engine) brings gamification and learning analytics to your Moodle — free and open source. Every day, quests are automatically generated for each student: activity completion, forum participation, quizzes, resource views, login streaks, and grade targets. Difficulty (easy, medium, hard) adjusts automatically based on performance. Students earn XP and level up. A dashboard shows XP, level, active quests, and progress across all activities. Two algorithms measure engagement (how active the student is) and mastery (how well they are doing) in real time. Together, they drive the adaptive system that tailors quests to each student. Dropout risk detection flags students who start disengaging — before they drop out. Teachers have full control over their course settings. Includes a notification system and is fully GDPR compliant. Requires Moodle 4.5+.
